Tutor request: if you accept a proposal for two sessions at $25 each and pay in the app, you pay $50 with no facilitation fee, and the trainer receives the full $50.
Coins
- 1 coin = $0.01. Use coins to pay for lessons and tutor requests and, for trainers, optional features.
- Packs: 1,000 coins ($10) · 2,000 coins ($20) · 5,000 coins ($50) · 15,000 coins ($150), or a custom amount from 1,000 coins.
- A payment processing fee of 4.5% + $0.50 applies to coin purchases, so the 1,000-coin pack costs $10.95 in total.
- Coins have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
How trainer payouts work
- The payment is released. Video lessons: at purchase. Live online and in-person lessons: when the learner confirms delivery, or automatically 7 days after you mark the lesson delivered. Tutor requests paid in the app: when delivery is confirmed, or automatically 72 hours after you mark it complete.
- You request a payout of your available earnings in Dashboard → Payouts, during the payout request period shown there.
- We review and pay approved requests to your PayPal, bank account, or Stripe account, and mark them as paid in your dashboard.
Earnings under an open dispute, or refunded, are not available for payout. You are responsible for your own taxes.
How Microskills earns
Trainers keep 100% of their lesson fee. Microskills earns from fees shown to the person paying before they pay:
- Learner service fee on lessons bought in the app: 10% of the lesson price.
- Facilitation fee on tutor requests paid in the app: currently 0%.
- Optional coin features for trainers, such as unlocking tutor requests and direct-pick packages, and a processing fee on coin purchases.
Refunds in short
- Live online and in-person lessons: open a dispute within 72 hours of purchase, before the payment is released.
- Tutor requests paid in the app: open a dispute within 7 days of the trainer marking delivery complete.
- Outcomes: full refund, partial refund, re-delivery, or no refund, decided by our team.
- Self-paced video lessons are released at purchase and are not covered by the dispute process.
- Service and facilitation fees are not refunded. Payments outside the app are not covered.
Pricing questions
The learner. It is added on top of the trainer’s price at in-app checkout and shown before you pay. It is never deducted from the trainer’s lesson fee.
No. If a dispute ends in a full or partial refund, the refund covers the lesson fee or training amount, but the service and facilitation fees are not refunded, except where the law requires otherwise. See refunds and disputes.
Yes, Microskills may change its fees. This page always shows the rates that currently apply, and the total shown at checkout is what you pay. Changes never affect payments already made.
Prices are shown in the currency of the listing, usually USD. If your card uses a different currency, your bank may apply its own exchange rate and fees. Any applicable taxes are shown at checkout.
No. Joining and publishing lessons is free, and trainers keep 100% of their lesson fee. Optional coin features, such as unlocking tutor requests or direct-pick packages, are the only things trainers can pay for.
There is no Microskills fee on payments arranged directly with a trainer, but they are not processed or protected by us and are not covered by refunds or the dispute process.
