For learners
Microskills is a marketplace for short, practical lessons. Each lesson teaches one skill in 60 minutes or less and is offered by an independent trainer, who sets the price and format.
Browse lessons or see how it works.
There are three formats: self-paced video lessons you can watch straight after buying, live online sessions with the trainer in real time, and in-person sessions at a physical location. Each listing shows its format, duration, price, and whether it is one-to-one or a group session.
Choose the lesson and pay at checkout. You then agree a session time with the trainer in your dashboard, and the trainer shares the session details, such as a meeting link or the meeting location. After the session the trainer marks it delivered and you confirm delivery.
Post a free tutor request describing the skill, your level, preferred format, timeline, and budget. Trainers send proposals and you choose the one you want, if any.
Start from your learner dashboard after you create a free account.
Yes. Accounts are for adults aged 18 or over, but a parent or guardian can post a tutor request for a child aged 3 to 17 from their own account. The parent or guardian is responsible for choosing a suitable trainer and supervising sessions. The in-app dispute process is not available for requests made for a child.
Yes. When you complete a lesson you can get a certificate of completion with its own certificate number, which you can view and share. It confirms you completed the lesson on Microskills; it is not an accredited qualification.
Only learners who bought a lesson can review it, once the purchase is completed or they have confirmed the training was delivered. Reviews use a 1 to 5 star rating and must reflect your genuine experience.
For trainers
Anyone with a practical skill they are qualified to teach, from any country, provided they can lawfully offer their services and receive payouts where they live. You can teach live online to learners anywhere, and add in-person lessons in your city.
Create a trainer account (or switch your existing account to trainer mode), complete your profile, then publish your first lesson or answer a tutor request with a proposal. Our team reviews new lessons before they go live.
Joining and publishing lessons is free. You set your own prices and keep 100% of your lesson fee: Microskills does not take a commission from it. Learners pay a separate service fee on top of your price when they buy in the app.
See the Pricing page for details.
Earnings become available once the payment is released: at purchase for video lessons; when the learner confirms delivery, or automatically 7 days after you mark it delivered, for live and in-person lessons; and when delivery of a tutor request is confirmed (automatically 72 hours after you mark it complete). You then request a payout in Dashboard → Payouts during the payout request period shown there. Our team reviews the request and sends it to your chosen method: PayPal, bank transfer, or Stripe.
Coins are optional. You can spend them to unlock the full details of a tutor request so you can send a proposal, or to buy a direct-pick package, which lets learners pick you directly as their preferred tutor. Prices in coins are shown before you buy.
You must verify your email address to activate your account. Phone, identity document, and location verification are optional and add trust badges to your profile.
You are. Trainers are independent providers, not employees of Microskills, and are responsible for their own taxes, registrations, licences, and insurance.
Payments, fees, and refunds
In the app you can pay by card through Stripe, with PayPal where it is offered, with coins, or with wallet credit. Any wallet credit you have is applied automatically at checkout. We never see or store your full card number.
Creating an account and posting tutor requests is free. When you buy a lesson in the app, a service fee is added on top of the lesson price. When you pay for a tutor request in the app, a facilitation fee is added to the agreed training amount. Every fee is shown before you pay.
Current rates and a worked example are on the Pricing page.
Coins are an in-app balance: 1 coin equals 1 US cent. You can buy coin packs or a custom amount and use them for lessons, tutor requests, and trainer features. Coins have no cash value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.
If you paid in the app, open a dispute from your dashboard. For live online and in-person lessons, do this within 72 hours of purchase and before the payment is released. For tutor requests, do it within 7 days of the trainer marking delivery complete; the trainer has 48 hours to respond. Our team reviews the evidence and decides on a full refund, a partial refund, re-delivery, or no refund.
Full details are in our Terms of Service.
Self-paced video lessons give you access immediately and the payment is released to the trainer at purchase, so the in-app dispute process does not apply. If you cannot access a video lesson you paid for, or you were charged incorrectly, email support@microskills.io.
Refunds cover the lesson fee or training amount. The service fee and facilitation fee are not refundable. Refunds go back to your original payment method where possible (card refunds usually take 5–10 business days, depending on your bank) or to your Microskills wallet, as stated in the decision.
There is no self-service cancellation for paid bookings. To change a session time, message your trainer in the app as early as possible and agree a new time. If a session does not take place, open a dispute within the time limits or contact support.
Payments arranged directly with a trainer carry no Microskills fee, but they are not processed or protected by us and are not covered by refunds or the dispute process.
